I have a dent in the middle section of the driver's door, about 4-5cms in from rear edge of door, in line with below the door handle, and just above the plastic lower section (1995 300 Diesel Estate). Before taking the door card off and other parts to pieces (probably accompanied by broken clips, skinned knuckles, and much bad language) does anyone here know whether I am likely to get behind this dent, or whether a double skin, strengthening bars or other structures will be in the way? The dent is one of those annoying supermarket car park jobs - small (less than 10p coin in size and has not broken paint) but no doubt expensive to repair at a body shop! I have a panel hammer and a block of wood for outer surface, and some skill, but I do not want to pull everything apart if I have no chance of getting a clear access behind it. I am sure somebody here has been in there on W124!
Thanks
John

Hi John. Not too sure exactly where your dent is, but the door card is fairly easily removed, and no breaking of clips and skinned knuckles is necessary, but a modicum of patience is required otherwise bad language COULD be part of the job! Gently prise off the trim around the inner door opening handle and the triangular piece at the door mirror. Remove the small screw and trim at the door lock and the 10mm bolt securing the top of the door pull handle to the door frame. Set the door locking button to the down position. The door card complete then just LIFTS UPWARDS off the securing clips (which are in fact hooks popped into the door frame rather than the door card) and over the locking button. You will need to 'jiggle' it a bit round the edges.
The patience bit comes in when replacing it, to ensure the door card locates on ALL of the hooks!
Hopoe this makes sense, and good luck, Tom.
