i plan on sprucing the old girl up a bit in the next few weeks (its a 210 need i say more?) anyhow, while im at it, i plan giving it a nice helping of waxoyl wherever i can get it in! on the front door trims (although not on the rear ones) is an SRS badge which i can only assume means the front doors have side airbags in them. is there anything i need to be careful of or be aware of when removing the front trims as i dont really want the airbags going off when my face is a few inches away! its a pre facelift, if it makes a difference

When replacing the winder mechanism (both front doors) in my W210 I did not do anything special other than leave the keys out of the ignition and was very careful until I was able to disconnect the supply.

Maybe I did something not quite Kosher but nothing went off with a bang:cool:

If you have to disconnect an air bag,,do not turn on the ignition, or a fault will be stored,,,if you need any papers for dismantling just ask,,I have most already printed off

The airbag is behind the panel & you will not need to disturb it.

Its funny how people see airbags!! the do,s and don'ts!

They are as safe as any other item on the car, just remember rule number 1 & 2.

Disconnect them with the key out, and lay them flat with the travel of the bag facing up, in other words, if it did deploy, it wouldn't shoot the metal part up first!!

I have never heard of a bag going off while being removed or stored!!

Have you???

They have to put the warnings "in case" of a faulty bag,

Do you want me to quote every reply now with the warnings and do,s and dont,s to every DIY job???:confused:
