On our 2006 CLK cabriolet it has a black gloss trim which is at the top of the door beneath the window. The trim runs around the car including the rear window.

It is Black Gloss and has a what looks like red water marks on it and despite using every cleaner and even attempting to tcut it I can not remove the marks.

I have been told that it is metal with a plastic coating and it will be corrosion working its way through. Can anyone confirm this or tell me the answer to get rid of it.

Also if they got to be replaced any idea of cost ?.

regards

If they are ally, and I agree with TV in thinking they are it could be that something has got splashed/deposited on the anodizing/paint leaching it,and that wont come out theyll have to be sprayed

Yes anodizing is a process where the alli is dipped in acid to give the colour
They can be sprayed, and they come off quite easily

Thanks for the posts gents.

Think i will have a look at it for spraying and take it to my friendly sprayer who will do a better job than me with a spray can from Halfords.

He will use an etch primer to make it stick well.
