It seems to be true, that at least if you don't own an older "Becker Navi" you will get the Updates free from Garmin, but I'm still not too sure...

For any who has had difficulty updating download manager you need to update Adobe Air here first

Anyway, I've installed the new version (3.0.09) of the Updater software and am now in the process of updating my SD card. Thanks a lot for your help.

Check out my post, the Version 3.xxx can still be downloaded... just making sure that you get a message... ;-)

You all are doing the right thing, but Mercedes replaced the application and only the old ones are still working to update the older Garmin Map Pilot cards.
But we are lucky and can still get the link to the older version of the application thanks to the wayback-machine of archive.org ...

Install it, and then Open the folder...

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mercedes-Benz Download Manager
Open the "Mercedes-Benz Download Manager.exe" as an Administrator (Right mouse button "Run as Administrator"), if you don't, then the application will stop at 50% and will be unable to write to the SD Card.

Use "DLM" and pw "DLM" to login and download your Map Update... for me it works and is at the very moment updating...

(I don't know whats the marketing of MCB within the UK, I bought my car second hand back in 2018 and it seems that updates for the maps are still possible... Is the subscription realy just for a total of 3 years?)

Hi, sorry new to this, so hoping I'm in the correct place. I've updated my SD card to the latest version (think it's v16 or v17) using the above details. All was seemed good with the download. When I put the SD card into the car, it asks me is this for this vehicle, which I confirm, then I click OK a second time. Everything installs, but my issue is that it says cannot unlock maps. Has anybody a solution to this? I've only bought the car, its early 2017 and the sd card wasn't working when I bought it. It said it was used in another vehicle, or something similar.

worked well upgraded from original sd card with map version v5 (2016) - the download was very slow but completed over the night. the only thing I had to get is the USB C multi-adapter for my laptop as it did not have a sd card slot.
Maps performance seem to have improved a bit.

Do MB keep moving them to make it difficult/impossible for us, so that we have to use a dealership?

You are amazing! Thank you @sk88 I had been looking for the download manager for a few days. Looks like Mercedes have deleted all links from their Australian and UK websites.

All I had to do was install Adobe Air, install DLM and update maps. I see others referring to a username and password. I did not get any prompt for login. I am in Australia.

Just want to thank the members here who kept the Garmin Pilot manager alive. I purchased a SD card in 2018 for my GLC and was able to update the maps only once after a couple of months, as I believe that is the policy. However, the engine that runs the maps does continue to get updated. The old version of the manager was completely deprecated (I found, after logging on for the first time after a few years) and you cannot log into the server that hosts the downloads.

The new version listed above "Download Manager SD Card" works great and I went from v10.0 to v14.0.

As an odd side-effect of this update, the SD card re-initialized and I could have used it on a new vehicle. Normally it locks the first time on the vehicle on which it is first used.

If indeed you have a full backup of the SD card before the new maps and navi software were installed, you could try deleting everything on the SD card and copying over the backup manually.

You may also consider making a full backup of the non-functioning contents just in case someone figures out a way to restore that situation later.

Yes, i have done that...just it was little bit tricky to find where did backup go. It is diferent folder than download manager. But i managed to recover It. Download manager gives you tu update maps but they are protected so that car cant unlock them.

The point is you can't unlock them unless you have an active subscription. Do you? It's quoted in the message you responded to, as a stark warning:

I'm not entirely clear on the update or subscription privileges worldwide. But in the US, there was no "subscription" service for the SD card navigation at all (at least when I purchased my 2018 vehicle). Back then, I purchased a SD card that allowed for updates within 60 days of the first install. After that, no more map updates unless I purchased another SD card. And these cards of course gets locked to the first car it is run on.

Now the nav program the maps are used within, that can be updated repeatedly, though I honestly haven't noticed any added functionality in each version.

Without an active subscription, I think you would need to revert to your old maps if you want any working navigation. Hopefully you have those backed up somewhere?

If you can't restore functionality, looking on ebay, European SD cards are available. Depending on the car model, ranges from ~30-100 Euro.

I don't believe you have to have the latest map come on the SD card, because the same app that ruined your current SD card would properly update it to the latest map, hopefully functional this time!

Yes, i have restore it,but with old maps. I cant get subscription from Mercedes for that so i am going to buy a New SD card with new maps from eBay.
