- 2018 Sprinter 314 CDI
Hi all,
I am currently in Bolivia (4000m altitude) with my 2018 UK Sprinter 314cdi and I’m having exhaust system issues.
Now this is to be expected with the altitude but I am worried there could also be an underlying issue. So here’s the series of events: Right now I have engine light with 2 errors on my Autolink AL529 (very basic reader)
B) NOx Sensor Circuit High Bank 1
C) Diesel Particulate Filter Restriction - Soot Accumulation
1. Diesel filter change in Cusco
2. Drove into mountains at +4000m and while up there entered limp mode + error A: “Turbocharger underboost” error (but not the other 2)
3. Limped back to Cusco where a mechanic worked on the van including “cleaning” the DPF with a jet wash. He couldn’t remove the NOx sensor initially so soaked it in oil overnight and removed it the next morning.
4. Drove about 3hrs and after filling up the engine light came on with error B+C.
5. We drove around 400km with this error to Arequipa where a mechanic cleared codes “cleaned” NOx sensors and replaced O-ring on intercooler hose and sent us on our way
6. Drove 400km and after starting the next morning lights were back on, same codes B+C
When we run the live data on the reader the NOx reading jsut says “No” which is what makes us thing there could be an issue… maybe the cleaning in Cusco damaged the sensor.
Either way at the moment we the DPF is not regenerating which we think could be either because of a fault or simply the altitude around 4000m.
We also hear a rushing noise when accelerating but don’t know if this is related.
Any thoughts or experience would be greatly appreciate.
At the moment we are thinking we just need to stop in each town and get a mechanic to do a force regeneration.
Thanks
