Engine management light coming on fault DPF blocked, regenerated twice and new sensor fitted but still comes back on after 30 miles - any advice on next steps would be greatly appreciated

Without seeing the car, difficult to say, some cars need updated software to deal with DPF being "apparently" blocked.

There is also the scenario where the dpf is actually blocked and will need to be removed and cleaned, or replaced.

Welcome buddy , sorry to hear of the car troubles . As Alex says above you need to see a decent MB Indy to get to the bottom of this as efficiently as possible .
What area do you live in so someone can recommend a decent specialist ?

Sorry to hijack the thread but how do you prevent the dpf getting blocked in the first place?
Is it driving differences/speeds?

Generally good driving habits, ie not 100% town driving etc, but they often get blocked where things like boost leaks or excessive smoke is ignored.

100% town driving is not an issue, provided they journeys are long enough on a regular basis. Its about having the exhaust up to temperature and giving it enough time to complete the regen cycle. If you only do short journeys you need to get it out on a longer journey every 300 miles or so. I'd question why you have a diesel in the first place if this were the case.

To the OP, you really need to get the codes read to identify what the issue is. You say you have changed a senor, what drove you to that, were codes read at that point. I have often seen the exhaust temperature and turbo temperature sensors need to be changed as a common issue.

Thank you for your response, the software was updated last week. I also had to replace the turbo boost hose as it was burst (red one), I think it is looking like I need to get the DPF removed and cleaned

Anything that prevents a regen will cause it to block. Short runs not getting up to temp, bad thermostat not letting the engine get to operating temperature, boost leaks, bad sensors - it's a long list.

Absolutely, this is the big problem with DPF's every single part of the engine has to work perfectly all the time or the thing will not regenerate properly.

Just want to say a thank you to everyone who has taken their time to post a response. I now have an update, just had the car in again this time the Dpf is clear with the sensor at top of Dpf coming up as faulty. Hopefully after this one is replaced it will be the end of it. Fingers crossed please

There are numerous software updates for DPF updates apparently (Steve@avantgarde regularly posts this info and he'd know). Might be worth asking your Indy if he can do them or take it to MB perhaps if not.

If your Indy has star, a manual regeneration can be done whilst driving that will do exactly the same thing.

I've now replaced both sensors on DPF and exhaust back pressure sensor, car still not running right. Car now down on power, again back to not changing gears properly but car not back in limp mode but expecting it to go into limp mode soon. STAR machine keeps telling me to change sensors but still no difference after changing them.
