I know its been discussed a million times but I am at a complete loss with my car and hope there might be a new ray of hope on this forum. My Car a 1999 SL500 Has the BAS ASR light on. The car starts on the button every time and ticks over lovely. At the press of the throttle there is a change in tickover to erratic/lumpy and very little throttle response. When I try to drive the car after 1000rpm the throttle response disappears and the engine only idles until switched off and restarted. There is no check engine light The car has been diagnosed with throttle body failure but changing it had no effect. The Maf and Crank position sensor are new. No codes are found apart from potentiometer signal not plausible (throttle Body). The car has been ill for 10 weeks and in a specialist garage for 5 after I gave up trying to find the fault. They are not making progress. There is little other option where I live and I am dreading having to take it to the stealers.

I am sure that these cars have an OVP relay in the boot

The OVP relay is under the black cover where the 38pin diagnostics plug is almost under the windscreen, passenger side. Its the one nearest the bulkhead and has several fuses on top. I have advise the garage to take a look.
