Please help. I have a 2001 E220CDI. The Drive belt has broken . I have a new one to fir. But cannot see how the tensioner works it has a 17mm bolt on the front which will move the tensioner to the right and left. But how does it tighten on the belt.? Need help urgently. would appreciate any advice.

Hi,
I think that they are on a damper, so you put your spanner on the nut and pull to the left to release tension.

hope this is of some use,
