Hello All, I will be amazed if anyone can explain this:!:
I posted a thread yesterday about my 1990 300TE 24v not having any drivebelt adjuster. Today, things became slightly (?) more frustrating. I bought a new belt from ECP quoting the length from the handbook - 2355mm for engines (type 104) without a cat. Got home and removed the old belt (removed the alternator to get it off). The old belt is shorter than the new one I have measured the old belt and it is about 2263mm ?? It looks like this could be from a 103 type engine -2255mm for cars with A/C.
How can I tell if this engine is genuine. It is definately DOHC but I am wondering if the top/bottom end has been changed at some point. Or, there is some componant pulley that isn't standard to this engine? Any suggestions about what to check out?
Thanks
David
