The passenger SAM in the 230 can get condensation via the outlet in the rear of the wing and they corrode badly,, if they get too bad, then they will blow the drivers side SAM as well.

Did you buy new SAMs and have they been coded to the car.

It is simple on these cars to do a current check if the battery is being drained,,you should open the bonnet and let the car go to sleep (½hour) then pull the fuses one by one using an ammeter as in the picture to see what is pulling current,, these meters can be bought for £6

B1059 Can Communication with Drivers Side SAM

I have an Aircon Fault (it doesn't work) where the Fault Code 'B1059 Fault in CAN Communication with Driver Side SAM = P' won't reset.
I noted this thread mentioning Passenger and Driver Side CAMs, but where exactly are they located. Somebody suggested that I look for corrosion in the passenger footwell (none) but nobody has yet been able to tell me where the SAM units are and what they look like.
Any clues please?

If the system has enough gas and a real fault, then possible heater box drain blocked and water in CAN & Wake up in passenger sill. The passenger SAM is in the oblong box by the starter battery, the drivers SAM is in the box the other side.

Hi and thanks for your response. An interesting point about water ... the clip attaching the N/S Windscreen Wash Nozzle Pipe broke where wash fluid poured into some kind of ventilation vent by the starter battery each time the washers were operated. Would this allow water to track in CAN & Wake Up?
Can you direct me to exactly where the CAN & Wake Up is and how to check whether it is working correctly? Also, if I need to replace it, would I then need to code it to my vehicle?
Would a problem with the CAN & Wake Up prevent my Aircon from working?
I presume that I can go under the vehicle with a piece of long wire to unblock the heater drain box?
Grateful for your response(s), thanks.

The heater box drain come out behind the rear section of the nearside wheel arch liner, and the spout is about just over half way up, we all cut the ears off so that it cannot block up. Its very easy to remove the liner, just 10mm nets and expanding plastic clips.
