My wife's Mini has been on SORN for a couple of months due to the fact that she's been driving my car around instead because I've not been using it much.

Her car is insured but the MOT and tax have run out. She can't renew the tax without an MOT (we think).

I know that there is some leeway in taking your car to an MOT station without an MOT as long as the MOT is prebooked. Does this also allow you to drive without car tax too for the same journey?

Thanks

Yes with a pre booked time you can drive to get the MOT without a road fund license

Excellent thanks Malcolm.

Do quite a few good hard brake stops when safe to do so, to clean up the disc, also pull up the parking brake a few times when driving to clean up the drums

I've just replaced all disks and pads. Also had to replace the front sensor which was the worst part... even more time consuming than winding the rear piston back in!

At least I have a new toy now in my toolkit... a piston rewind tool... lovely!
