I run a small Volkswagen specialist garage so Mercedes are relatively new to me. I'm running an M plate W124 E300D as my daily and predictably the heater Duo Valves are stuck open. Cleaning them and rebuilding with as many parts from a good used pair as possible got them working for a couple of days but they're stuck again. I have to drive to Le Mans relatively regularly from Sheffield so I could do with knowing they're going to be OK.
Here's the rub - the car has the style of valves that have the auxiliary waterpump mounted on the back and 4 inlet/outlets, 5 if you include the blocked off one(IIRC) . I can't find any that are exactly the same, hence having to get the closest I could and mix / match bits.
JCT600, our local dealer, have quoted an eye watering £301 + VAT for the complete assembly. GSF car parts and Euro Car Parts both say they can't supply and Damas, our localish specialist breaker, haven't got any. All the local "normal" scrapyards don't even have a 124 in, never mind one with the correct valves
Does anybody have any suggestions for anything I might not have thought of?
