DVLA clamping

Interesting to read on govt website the number of cars clamped last year, listed by make, model, and colour. Over 5000 Transits and 5000 Golfs got the treatment. Silver black and white got the worst of it, probably because they are the most common. You have to laugh at the owners of classic cars which were clamped (zero tax and 30 seconds on tinterweb sorts it).

An enterprising bod could make up replica DVLA clamps and flog em to people who don't tax & insure their vehicle??

My late father used to work in the Earls Court area when clamps first came out. A guy in his office had knocked up copies and flogged them to people who would drive into work, park up in very expensive residential streets, pop the clamp on and go to work, end of day remove and drive home. He made a fortune and no clamping or parking fees paid

A mate had gone on holiday forgetting to tax his runaround he bought for £50. When he got back it had been scrapped for non payment of road tax. He figures its cheaper to buy a £50 banger and let the tax run out and have it scrapped than have it serviced.
