e 300 td 1997 not starting help on fuel?

Hi there I have a 97 300 turbodiesel its never failed to start at all ...
but the last few days (when < 0c ) its failed to start twice
It starts for less than a second then it shuts down ,if i churn the car over it will eventually start making me think air is in fuel line or no fuel getting to injector pump..
Glow plugs are all newish i'm waiting for GP light to go out
Does this model have an electric fuel pump from tank to filter?
Should i be able to take a pipe off at filter and with ignition on see fuel coming?
Or any other suggestions?

I think your self Diagnosis is about right. Replace the rubber o-rings on the lines and possibly the filter and pre-filter seals.

Any air leak in the system will cause your problem, and A Ellsy say's change the O rings, a very common fault. you must also check the return to tank lines, the one one the fuel filter are the most common

You have an air leak, chances are you'll be able to see air in the lines around the fuel pump, its under the intake manifold on the right side of the engine. The fuel is pulled up under vacuum so you won't necessarily see fuel spurting out of any lines.

Until you change the seals park the car nose-down overnight if you can, that stops the fuel draining back into the tank. You can either buy new lines, or new seals, either way it isn't expensive and is an easy DIY job. Just remember that the little horseshoe clips holding the lines on must be pushed IN to release the lines, and be left OUT in normal use
