my question is although i ve trawled through all the posts i have nt seen the 350 mentioned at all
is this because its a dodgy model lol or are they fairly rare in this country, cant say i ve even seen one on the road.either way i love it.

Just not been out long I guess. There are a few E320 owners.
That said, the E350 will be a rarer model on UK roads as most people go for the E320cdi.
Can't say I've actually seen an E350. My aunt has the clk350 cabrio and I've seen it on the slk and sl but not seen it in the E as yet.

thanks for the reply
glad you did nt say i had bought a bad model
it was a bit of an impulse thing did nt do any research
i was just looking round the showroom for some insperation when a salesman showed me the e class and i was smitten
i want to try and get the sat nav retro fitted but there seems to be a lot of conflicting opinions and to be honest most of it is going a bit over my head

No you bought a good model - either that or we both messed up!
The 350 is supposed to be a great engine. Bit thirsty for my tastes these days - hence i run a diesel but if my mileage was lower I'd definately consider a 350.

You're in good company - one look at an E and lots of people are smitten. A friend shopped around until he sat in an E. Then that was it. I'm on my second and have never looked back.

As far as having the sat nav fitted, I assume you mean the "command".
Well my two penneth.
Firstly it's a great gizmo. Looks great, good functionality, I like it and if someone offered me one FOC I'd have it like a shot. I had one for a couple of weeks (loan car) and enh=joyed sitting watching the matrix whilst stuck in a jam.
However, cost-benefit - it doesn't really add up.
GPS wise, it's not much better than a tomtom. If you use satnave all day every day them maybe, but if like me, you need it once every 2 months, then a tomtom stored in the boot is just fine and £1800 less into the bargain.
The problem is, that MB have 2 audio systems. The basic "Audio20" setup, which is the standard, self contained radio/CD player/amplifier which I, and I guess you have, and the sat nav enabled Audio 50 and command units. These do not have integrated amplifiers but use a networked "Audio gateway" located in the boot. (which we don't have).
To upgrade from the Audio 20 to the 50 or command requires, not just the head unit (£500-£1000 approx from ebay), arial (not a lot), software dvd (£120 ish) and the optional boot mounted dvd player, but also the audio gateway and wiring loom (£500) and all plus fitting. Hence it's a pricey process. If you're going to the expense, an audio 50 is a bit pointless and you may as well get a command, but prices from £1500-£2000 fitted are not unusual.

Depends how much you need it, but as I say, Audio 20 and a tomtom serve me perfectly well.

Hi there,
I am a big fan of the new 350 v6 engine, with 272 bhp its fairly quick, and i find better on fuel than the new 230 v6. it doesnt have to work so hard so you use much less right foot which makes it better on fuel. but like you give a s--- about fuel economy, just enjoy the power and nice sound it makes. thats my opinion anyway.
Great choice of car!!
