I have a 2004 211 e class, when I fold in the wing mirrors they judder close and make a noise something like a couple of squirts with an oil can may fix but I cannot see a way how to get inside it. I have read a few wing mirror problems threads and it has been mentioned that you slide the cover off. Do you simply hold the rear of the wing mirror and slide it off. I dont wish to break it, you know what they say "little knowledge is very dangerious"

You need some PTFE from halfords and just spray in to the fulcrum area, the point that it swivels on. This will not hurt the paint and it is very clean to use, works wonders on keys and locks too

This should work by spraying in from under the mirror, I do not think there is anything to be gained from taking the cover off, but it comes off dead easy and I can send you the instructions

Thank you Malc
I would appreciate the instructions how to get the wing mirror apart in case I need it. If I fold the wing mirror closed then spray inside through the rubber flaps you think that may fix it. I will try it and let you know.

Thank you

I need an Email address please you can remove it in edit.

Re the mirror most just spry into the swivel point from outside, have some one operate the switch while you give a helping hand, it should then free off

W211 Heating Wire Broken

Hi Television

I recently read a post wereby you e-mailed out instructions on how to remove the covers etc from a W211 wing mirror. My 2004 W211 passenger door mirror does not heat up and I suspect a broken wire or similar.
A bit of a cheek but would it be possible to have the removal instructions e-mailed to me. If its OK then that would be fantastic.
