First off the bat, i'm 35 and have been driving Mercedes for the past 12 years (ok this sounds like an opening line to a dating site). I've done this through hard work, since I was 16, running my own business.

As some following my recent posts will know, i've come to changing my W204 C-Class and concluded a number of test drives with new Mercedes models. The best being the E-Class and a finance package that is very reasonable indeed.

I've commented to a few people about my choice of car (could have been the worse thing I did) with the general comment back.....why you getting one of those...your not 60.

Is it an old man's car? Should I be popping down to the "young mans" dealerships?

People buying BMW 7-series, and sometimes even the 5-series, are accused by 3-series owners of being also the owners of pension books.

Ignore it. It's just envy! ;)

Older Citroen Now :-(
I would ignore the jealous comments..
If you have driven the E's you will know they are in a different league to the C's..
Your colleagues / friends also know this and thus the remarks are created to dampen your enthusiasm and hopefully (in their eyes) put you off your quest.

You deserve what you choose because you have earned it..
Now go and choose with a clear conscience and a lightened footfall..

Behold a new experience awaits you..

IMHO yes it clearly is an old man's car, but that doesn't make it unsuitable for a younger person. Buy what you like.

I'm only 25.

Wagons (estates) overcome this problem - fast wagons are uber cool and stylish.

Does this look like an old mans car?

Some elderly people drive C-class, BMW 3-series and even Porsche 911s.

Does this make those cars old people's cars as well? ;)

I had an e class at 32. LOVED the space of the 210. the 211 felt small (internally) in comparison. I cant comment on the 212 though

very true Malcolm but the extra width of the interior wouldve been useful now ive got 2 child seats and a mother-in-law to fit on the rear seat. its tight but do-able in the 203. havent worked out how to 'lose' the mother-in law yet!

Disqualified driver
I had two E classes, but not the 212. I have driven a 212 and liked it, but bought a C class instead.

I've seen plenty tour age and younger I e classes. It's a good large car
