E class coupe front seats dont lock in place

Hi all
Does anyone know how to fix my problem. I have a E class coupe but the front seats don't lock in place after they have been but back. Can't even look at the other seat as both of them have started doing it

I thought they only locked when the engine was switched on, assuming its a 124 as you said its a Coupe.

Many an MOT man has been caught out by this.

Its an E220 coupe

The doors have to be shut AND the engine running.

The MOT person checks then by having a window down so he can put his hand into the car to try and move the seat back.

I always leave instructions for the MOT man.

This also includes a note to say my headlight aim switch is also in position at the midway point.
