I would suggest pulling the fuse for the central locking, that way the tailgate lock will then work manually, this will alow the tailgate lock to be inspected.

I would imagine that the locking motor micro swith is either defective, or needs adjustment, they can be obtained separately if needed.

The usual reason for these going wrong is the tailgate being slammed onto the striker plate.

Hope this helps.[/quote]

many thks to you both

like the idea abt the fuse, however none of the keys fit/work the boot lock (it has alway been like that!)

interior panel of the tailgate seems the only way.

thanks

the boot lock will just be stiff through non use.

Open the boot , keep it at eye level and use WD40 to loosten the lock skoosh , wait a min and then try the key....

The boot sounds like its independently locked for some reason , either that of the boot lock has been changed.

ITs worth a try , most people just use the alarm fob and never even think of using the key

The bootlock on my car did not even let the key in when i bought it.. ITs as sweet as a bonbon now :D
