E class ignition barrel

Hi I have a 1996 e class 124t and the ignition barrel has failed, does anyone have a guide on how to remove the barrel from the housing, the key turns to position 2

You cannot until you have you have been a member for 1 month.

You could put up your Email address in your signature and click save changes at the bottom,,or wait till the morning till I am on line and put it up hare and delete it later

Note that there are two sets of latches to lift with the extractor tool, if you only lift the barrel latch (only one on the barrel) the barrel will become loose(r) but will not come free until you find the two latches that hold the cover in place, they are a few mm deeper than the barrel latch, I think from memory the cover latches require the tool to be inserted about 45mm.
It can some times be a struggle to get the latches to lift, just keep at it making sure that your extractor is getting deep enough to lift the cover latches.
The Haynes manual has a sketch of the tool.
