Fading is best done with the basecoat, there were a few methods around, even spraying thinned out basecoat into wet lacquer... Todays waterbases are much heavier in viscosity (thicker) so they can be a bitch to blend.. But the waterbase silvers are much cleaner and brighter and I find them fantastic on edge to edge matching..
