Good afternoon everyone

Last year I made a mistake when I changed the Audio 20 for an aftermarket media system[Veyron]

I did check with the UK supplier that it was the correct unit for my year etc,I spoke to a fitter who confirmed the same thing

I changed it because Audio 20 is of course without sat nav [mine was anyway] and I needed a media connection

Since then it has never worked properly, by that I mean not all the speakers have been in use, if I put the seat warmer on the AM band goes off, sometimes I pick up electric engine noise taking me back to the 70's when I fitted my own 8 track player, I cant max out if I want a head banging session as once I get passed half volume the vibration is greater than the sound etc etc

I had the original fitter back and fell out with him Ive had 2 others on my drive that said they wouldn't touch it without £100 min and no promise of a win

Time to do something I should have done 6 months ago

Am I right in thinking a command unit is the only way ?

That being the case is there a good reputable source you could forward to me,or does anyone have one stashed away somewhere

I am not sure I can [want] to afford it so if anyone does have one I would need to understand the cost first please. If the Veyron is good for another vehicle and interests someone then of course would sell if it suits another vehicle???

Thanking you as ever

A good Pioneer / Kenwood system will be considerably better than COMAND of that era.

£250 should get you something with Bluetooth, iPod etc and use your phone for nav
But doesn't that take me back to after market issues in the sameway as I have now or is there a particular Pioneer that you know is a good fit
Also I like the screen for sat nav and don't touch my phone at all when driving etc

Thanks

From memory, a full Comand retrofit is around £1400 - and, as @JBell says, Comand of that era is now a bit dated.

The acknowledged experts on Comand matters are commandonline.co.uk who are Forum supporters so you could seek their views. They are in Surrey (M3 J3) so a bit far from you.

No because they are quality units

Truth hurts lol. I have used Pioneer and Kenwood for 25 years and never had a problem, the nav is excellent in them as well, you can probably get DAB radio so it will be totally up to date whereas COMAND will not be

Update Update

I have had a pro look at my after unit, telling me it would never work ,is rubbish and I should go back to a Command, authenticy etc etc

Then he said if I found one its not just a case of plugging it in you have to enter a code etc possibly via Star

This all sounded very odd at a time when my ego was on the floor

Is there a definitive answer to this and more importantly does any no of a Command unit on here that might be lurking in the garage?

Thank you

I've been looking at putting an updated Comand unit into my car. You may be able to source one on Ebay or elsewhere, but you could fall foul of theft protection measures and be stuck with a unit that's useless to you. It will almost certainly need coding to suit your car and the car will also require coding if you want everything to work properly. Comand Online want £1400 to supply and install an NTG 2.5 unit - expensive, but at least you can be sure everything will work properly.
