Hi
I have ordered a new E-Class estate, with Option codes 380 & 354 (495 UKP)
'Telephone pre-wiring with hands-free facility and telephone aerial on roof'

There is an alternative option 382 & 354 (735 UKP)
'Nokia 6310i mobile telephone with hands-free facility and telephone aerial on roof'

I went for the former because I already have a Nokia 6310i and I assumed that 380 was the same as 382 but without the actual phone. i.e. I could just stick my 6310i into the phone cradle in the centre console and it would work.
However, I have now seen posts which seem to imply that even if your car has the pre-wiring, it doesn't have the split armrest cover and the pop-up cradle and the specific controller/interface for your phone, and that it is a costly job for the dealer to add these parts before your phone will work. In which case obviously I should have gone for option 382......

Can anyone confirm exactly what option 380 includes, and how difficult/expensive it is to get your phone to work with it?

If someone has actually taken delivery of a car with this option, I would love to hear from them

Many thanks

hi

If you have only just ordered your car it should come with a UHI interface which means that all you need to purchase is the cradle to suit your phone, however if you have an older car the pre wire option excludes the cradle, the control unit and the Enet compensator which could set you back 5-600 quid your supplier should clarify the situation and kick up if you have been missled, these guys sell these phones every day and should know what they are talking about

I have ordered the same. What was the outcome? Did your phone slot in?
You have me worried now, as the information in the brochure is not explicit about it so I would appreciate the knowledge you have gained.

Nokia 6310

If you look back you can see my post from approx two months ago. The cradle that came with my 2002 was compatible with a Nokia phone. I don´t know what specific phone was used in the car previous to me buying it, it was a Mercedes executive car. I did however have to buy a Nokia interface in order to get it to work. If you research previous posts you will also find valuable information about this subject. I agree that your dealer should be able to tell you, or find out for you, what you specifically need.
Cheers, George

I ordered the £495 option for the pre-wiring (not providing a Nokia 6310i phone as I already have one). It comes with the split armrest and all the wiring and cradle to accept the 6310i phone directly.

To be clear, the £495 option provides everything to allow your existing 6310i Nokia phone to work handsfree with no other cradles, etc. to be fitted at the dealership. It interfaces really well with the other systems on the car and works beautifully on my E500 Estate (delivered 3 months ago)
