Good Morning All, I'm new to this forum so Hello everyone.
I wonder if you could help me.
Model: E200 1996
Mileage: 240k
Problem: Decrease in power, Sounds like it's running on 3 cylinders, Will not rev above 4k (sounds like engine management is restricting revs).
Additional info: Noticed that the air flow hose from filter box had worked itself off (Replaced and secured it), Checked oil and water (Both fine, no exchange), Battery, Alternator, Water pump belt all fine.
Dropped into a "Farmers" auto shop that was just shutting and although the guy couldn't help me as he was leaving did say that he thought the engine may have gone into protection "mode" and it sounded like it could be a possible air flow meter problem. As it was a fairly new one he suggested it may need resetting. Is this something I can try at home? I'm no expert but am quite good mechanically e.g. changing water pump, belt, spark plugs etc..
Any ideas or solutions would be appreciated.
Many thanks all
