Hi there, new member, first time poster, so apologies if I'm posting in the wrong subforum etc.

I caught up with my sister yesterday and she showed me a bizarre issue with her 2017 E220d where she opens the electric boot, and as soon as it reaches the fully open position, it slams itself back shut, far more quickly than I'd expect an automatic boot closure system to work. She's prepared to take it for repairs, although isn't exactly flush with cash at the moment, and I wondered if this was a known or common issue with a known fix. Any assistance would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

Faulty hall sensor in one or both motors if there's 2. Or it needs the positions recoded.

Try lubricating the hinges. I had one which did this and Mercedes replaced every part and gave up.
A great forum member suggested oiling the hinges and hey presto, it was sorted.
I ended up using a dry silicone grease spray which seemed to work for longer.
Mine occurred after the tailgate was replaced following a shunt and all I can think of is the body shop didn't grease the hinges fully.

Cheapest attempt at a fix!
