Can someone help please? I have had a message on two occasions when I started the car.
1 malfunction- a battery's picture is displayed and says electrical equipments switched off. All the electrical things worked and the message disappeared after sometime. this happened on cold mornings. I could not find anything on this on guide book.

Has anyone had this before? Where is the likely problem?

Thanks.

I had the same message on the dash twelve months ago. It occured when the car had been standing for 2 or 3 days. I knew the battery was coming to the end of its life and when changed this solved the problem.

Have the battery checked and if a replacement is necessary go for a good brand ie. Varta or Bosch, well worth the investment.

Low battery voltage so it shuts off some circuits to protect the important ones. As Malcolm says - a new battery may be required, or just a top up on a charger if she doesn't get out much. As you say, its on cold mornings so cold battery, glow plugs and everything working that bit harder. A few seconds later and the alternator is up to speed and all is fine again.

It depends a lot on how much the car is being used, also the conditions as well.
During cold foggy weather the battery in a modern car is working to its limits with headlamps, fog, heated window, heating in car etc all running, it it is only being used for journeys under 20 miles or so the alternator cant cope so it will switch off things so that the battery can recover to a charging state. This happens when the voltage drops to 11.75 volt

The battery may be OK with a good charge, and you could get yoursef a charger, they dont cost much. The best part of the working curve of a battery is at the charged end, working at the discharged end there will be very little energy in it, ti will also shorten the working life if left,so do charge it up.

you could leave say the radio off and what ever else you can during this cold spell.
