E220 CE Wiper control shot

Hi all,

Wiper Control/Indicator Control on 95 Merc E220 burnt out?
Is it difficult and expensive to change this part?
Where can I buy a replacement and is it a DIY job?
Indicators still work but no wipers!

What makes you think it is the stalk, not questioning your diagnosis but consider that it could also be the motor or fuse. Try opening the stalk to investigate, THIS is for a W202 however yours will be similar.

Stalk removal, all depends how good you are, it involves steering wheel and air bag removal on my car, I presume yours will be same.

A dealer would be the safest place for this part as a used one could be just as unreliable, that is if it is the stalk switch that is at fault. A phone call to dealer will give you a price.

Thanks Dec - it actually shorted while driving - smoking etc. - I can still get the wipers to come on with some messing about with the connectors etc. but definitely the stalk switch that's at fault

It does happen.

Try kmsautoparts or Euro car parts, they do stalk switches for the w202 so should for the w124, Approx. £40-£60.
