Hi People. Early this year I became the proud owner of a 1994 E220 Coupe, one owner, full history, 72000 miles and mint condition. Highly delighted with it, everything I expected and more besides.
I recently saw a 1988 300CE with a facelift, i.e it had the front end of what I think was the W210 E class. I know this is an emotive subject but personally I think it looked awesome and would like to do it to my own car. What I would like to know is, is this an easy conversion ? Sourcing the wings, bonnet, lights etc is no problem, but will they fit ? And if so, what problems am I likely to encounter.
Looking forward to some replies, I just hope the purists dont abuse me too much.

Just buy a CLK

...Consider yourself abused

Be proud of what it is, it comes from a time when Mercedes were proud of that grille and mascot !

Put some of the newer indicator lenses on it along with 8 hole or appropriate AMG alloys and it will look years newer and not be a Heinz 57 !

Its a 1994 so it will already have the clear signals and prolly eight hole alloys also.

I have yet to see one of the 210 conversions look right. Yes at first glance they look ok but when you look closely, you'll see that the lines aren't right and the panel gaps are not consistent - just shouting inferior quality if you ask me.

The kits themselves cost upwards of £5k so you may as well sell the E220, and buy a CLK with the difference rather than blowing a whole load of money on something that you will never get a return on.

 OK OK OK .. I do know how good my car is, and yes I am rather proud of it. It was just a thought and I'm sure not going to do anything that will make it look cheap or tacky. Thanks for the input and on reflection it's not such a good idea.
