E220 Keys won't work. Help!

My key fob won't open the doors though the light on both of them flash OK.
I used the spike to gain entry but the keys won't turn in the ignition at all.
Can I use the spike to start the car ( and this check that's it's not the battery )?
What does the problem sound like? Serious? Call the breakdown? Or can you lovely people help me?

This does sound as though the battery is fault on the car,,,you can open the door with the blade key in the end of the remote, once you have done that turn the headlamps on to see if they light up
