Afternoon all
2016 just out of warranty by 6 weeks has just got an orange EML, diagnostics showed a P2201 code
Have researched and it appears its a Nox sensor Bank1
The sceptic in me is concerned as just been serviced and Adblue replenished, 7 weeks later.........

Question to you all is how easy is this to rectify your self? or is there precedence that MB may foot the bill due to it being fairly common?

And is it ok to continue driving(MB say it is)

If it is out of warranty just 6 weeks I would bring it to the dealer and talk to them. They should fix this for you. You can also call main MB central and ask them for it.

Thanks for reply
Yes had contact with MB Customer servs in Netherlands, said i need to get diagnostics carried out first at MB main dealer. I nearly choked when MB Coventry quoted me £168 for diagnostics alone.

My issue is if am deep into £168 before getting the issue fixed, then MB say they wont cover it. it becomes a great deal more expensive than it needs to be.

I have booked into a Mercedes Indy specialist to get diagnostics so at least i have the whole story.

You could try Mb, we have been able to get the sensors changed under warranty depending on fault code. Normally a pair of sensors required.

Thanks Star, have read previous threads regarding your good work in that department, here's hoping i get a similar result.
Is it best going for genuine MB sensor or is what they supply just a re branded Bosch for example??

Hi Star, I have similar problem

On my 2012 ML250, I had Refill Ad Blue alert, filled tank with 20 litre Adblue then the " No Engine start XXX miles" sign came up. EML light is on.

The Diagnosis with icarsoft MB V2.0 shows,

Current Fault code P13E400 -Remaining Driving distance limited due to Malfunction in Adblue system"

Any idea what this could be and how much will it cost to repair?
Do you have mobile diagnostic service?

Sorry we’re not mobile, we have to run thru a star test to determine if the sensors need to be changed as a pair, depending on fault, we would contact Mb to see if we can it covered under goodwill. Difficult to price but if a pair is needed in excess of £1000
We have some success with goodwill claims.

Hi Star

Thank you for the reply.

I have limited mileage left, so I am not driving the car at the moment.

Do you know anyone who can do mobile star diagnostic?
What are the chances of Mercedes agreeing to repair 2012 car under goodwill?

Don’t know of mobile genuine star diagnostics, we have had some successes of cars of that year. Lots of dealers won’t contact Mb to try, they will just charge for you for a diagnostic and replacement sensors.

as it seems fairly plain that there were a good number of less than good NOX sensors fitted to new cars of certain yr or yrs,is it not possible for benz to identify the problem cars/ sensors/supplier and get the cars brought in for change. or are benz basically trying to fanny the issue ? and i hope jjp35 gets sorted, but just seems to be a lottery.
also noted is that some nox sensors fitted today also appear to be faulty ,tho there are also some that have not had the ,seemingly required software applied to the new type sensors, i guess that its not unreasonable to declare that if new version sensors /wiring is required its kind of goes without saying that the original set up was at best suspect, worst just unfit for purpose.no ?
