I have a late 1997 E230 with 5-speed Auto transmission. The car is well maintained and in good condition except the auto transmission problem. On accelleration, the gear change is smooth. However, on braking, when the speed drops to 30 kph the gear change from 4th to 3rd is jerky. This problem can be eliminated by manual shifting the gear from 4 to 3 before the speed drops to 30 kph. I have changed the ATF, and Gear's Electrical plate but no improvement. My mechanic shop also cannot give a hint of what might be wrong. Any suggestion is highly appreciated.
