I have a problem with on eof the rear electric windows. It will no longer raise or lower although it sounds as though it is trying to. It will lower itself when driving unless wedged up.

Any ideas on the possible cause??

Also,

recently after a dead battery, the other windows will go down smoothly but only come up in very small jerks. Once again any ideas?

thanks in advance

All being well I shall be replacing the window regulator in my W210 this weekend. I will then post a DIY.

It looks simple enough to do, but needs som rivets drilling out. In the meantime either remove the door card and wedge it or use tape on the inside and over the door top to hold it up.

Your car could have a conventional system

Thanks for the replies.

Telvision,

I read on another thread you had the method for removing the door card. Is it possible to get this information so I can diagnose the problem more accurately and then price up the repair?

Thank you

Already had the door card off, definitely the rivetted on, Heath Robinson cable and plastic pulley stuff.

The door card is relatively easy to remove.
  • One screw behind a pop off cover under the main door handle.
  • One small screw on the inside of door holding a plastic surround for the door lock.
  • One screw behind the release handle lever. (pry off the cover behind the lever by pulling the lever fully back, as if to open the door and lever the cover from the edge furthest away from the lever hinger.)
  • Five pop clips under the right, left and bottom edge - one on each corner , midway along the bottom and up each edge. You can get replacements from Halfrauds if they break.
  • Once the bottom and edges are freed, lift the card up and out - the top edge clips down into four or five metal clips by the window rubber.
