Some buff head has busted off my three pointed star and I am in the process of checking out Ebay for a replacement, any idea how I remove the existing mount complete with spring mechanism in preparation for the replacement unit?

:)

Go to your nearest MB dealer, not only will you get the right one they may even fit it for you for free. They are also as cheap from MB as most of the ones on ebay.

Each to their own, I find it makes an excellent parking sensor as well as gun site :D :p

Job done - if I did not have it I would be 2 foot further away from the kerb, like the idea of it being a gin sight - make it a loty easier to aim for cats!

Strange thing this, when i had one on the car,I sure missed it when it went missing. My next MB did not have one and have not missed it one bit.

I thought about fitting one to my ML as I really liked the one on my old C class. As anyone fitted one to an ML?

You could have problems on a safety issue.

Borderline impossible I'd imagine. The bonnet is shaped to accept the badge and there is a recess for the mounting. It would be a major task.
