E240 Stalling When Put In Gear Only When Cold

Hi,

Hoping someone can help me:

I have a E240 auto, year of manufacture 2000. On a cold start it stalls when you select drive or reverse. No problems starting it and it idles perfect but select a gear and it stalls.

Likewise, if you come to a stop when the engine is still cold it judders and tries to stall. It runs like a dream and restarts once warm without any problems. The box changes up and down seamlessly.

Any idea what might be wrong?

Torque converter Problem I suspect.

Change ATF AND FILTER

I cured exactly this that way. MUST change the gasket too, as a leak in that was the source of water which clogged the filter, causing the problem. With me it dropped the pressure at the TCC piston, causing an apparent fauilure. If it is not doing this when warm, it is NOT the TC. Easy DIY: search this forum for Parrot of Doom's help post and use the cooling line method
