E250 CDI remapping!!!

Hey guys,

Today we visited Daeths to get his E250 CDI remapped! Firstly the car is beautiful with an extremely deep white that we could not stop looking at! Coupled with the Pano roof and hard tints of the back windows gave it a very menacing look indeed! We love these with the larger wheels as it just seems to fill the arches perfectly.

As you may know or not we have been developing for this engine for a couple of weeks to get the most powerful model in the world like we did with the 350cdi lump, however we did not go quite so hard on this vehicle as it is a commuter car and still needs to return a good MPG figure, so Gary got to work after running diagnostics and reading the vehicle and wrote a base map in which we took out and tested and data logged to see what the DPF was up to as far as pressure differential goes and there was no change.

So we brought her back and rewrote the software for a little more and took her out again, data logged and came back ready for Daeths to take her out.

Through torque request, fuelling, limiters, boost, rail pressures ect.... she is now making the 250-255bhp mark and 585-595nm mark. Like I said we didn't go wild on her to preserve fuel economy.

Cheers guys, it was good to meet you. The car is certainly a lot more responsive both from start and also the mid range is clearly improved. Throttle response is night and day change.

No idea on mpg yet.

For anyone not used GAD the guys are clearly knowledgeable, but also happy to chat through all the various points. They also drink coffee well LOL.

Cheers again guys and will post an update once the adaptive bits of the car have done their adapting and it's all settled in.

Finally thanks for the nice comments about the car, it still gives me a smile when I jump in, even more so now

is it just me or does the facelift s212 look downright stupid? The headlights look crap, the rear is horrible with that naff silver bar across the bumper, and the front mock air intakes are far too big

LOL m8 no offence taken, as said by others each to their own. Personally I waited and then jumped straight from a 211 to the 212 facelift as I didn't like the pre facelift 212.

I hate my SIL's Evoque...she loves it.

It's what makes e world go around.

Good response daeths. Very diplomatic. To restore a little balance I much prefer the face lift too. The pre face lift imo was horrific. Too boxy.

Yeah I find it with Mercs all the time! I will see a new model or face lift and think oh no!! But then they grow on me. I get it really bad with BMW's (I do love my BM's) for instance the X6 came out and I hated it! I love them now.

Did you guys see 50bhp increase as i understand 250cdi are usually 200

What are the gains like on 320cdi? I have had it mapped and was told its around 30bhp more to around 250

The development vehicle when we really pushed (There's also more to be had) we saw an increase of 70bhp!!! 30Bhp on the 320cdi is low! They are very strong engines and the injectors can flow loads of fuel. When we power tune the 320's we have seen anything from 45bhp to 55bhp without removal the DPF. With DPF removed and EGR deleted you can see 60bhp +.

a 20% gain -- how has that affected your insurance? Usually get a bit iffy when its that high a %.....

Good afternoon,

Some insurance companies do have stricter standards for how far you gain in the performance department. I believe that some are getting far less strict over remapping if its still a stock vehicle and not had any major parts replaced.

Would be good to know of peoples experiences with how premiums have been affected.

How exactly would an insurance company know? I'm sure many people buy a mildly remapped car without even knowing and don't declare as they don't know.
I don't think the remaps are very easy to detect are they?
