Want to access inside of 2004 estate tailgate to see if water ingress there is affecting intermittant rear light warnings (seems thia is a recurrent problem with water getting in via the rear wiper seal - fixed that with some silicone sealant). Removed the 4 side clips in the velour cover OK. But how remove the 8 small button clips in the plastic lower strip, can't lever them out or remove the panel with screwdriver underneath and as much levering as dare? Searched the forum and it seems the bottom section "pops" off !

Will the e-manual as advertised help ?

Any help/tips...

Trim removal

That would be great, I hoped you'd reply as you seem to be the keeper of all knowledge !

After 3 124 estates I knew how to pull them apart but this newer model all clips and springs !!

Do I give my e-mail here or is there a more private way to give this to you ?

trim removal

Got it all off OK with your help. Broke a few clips they were really stuck, easy to replace. Totally dry inside, so no problems there. So I've checked the body panel LED lights and they all work fine. But sometime they light up but sometimes gives a display warning that rear bulb problem and reverts to using the tailgate lights. Where is the control box that monitors this ?
Where should I look ?

Thanks

The problem should be in the rear end. I always spray the bulb holders with a non drying switch cleaner (MAPLINS) and see what happens, wires can beak in the hinge area, and this is well known

Rear lights

Thanks

I've had both sides body light panels off and opened them up completely and cleaned etc with switch cleaner. No sign of any corrosion. They worked fine with 12V applied. If it's reverting to using the tailgate lights this means the problem is with these body lights and not the control box in the boot lid, what does this black box do? In the forum I noticed something about a light relay, where is this ? There has been some water in the offside rear (the black box, I think tow away alarm but doesn't seem to affect anything) is pretty well U/S, but no water signs in the light cluster.

Maybe I just have to try new LED sets in the body lights ?

Yes when it reverts to those, on some models there are some replacement bulb holders. If water has been getting in it is usually poor stamping's for the rear lights leaving a burr around the hole.

I do not know what the box is in the rear door
