Driving home from work tonight, engine looses power, engine graphic light on dash came on.

I stopped, re-started & the malfunction was EMS - "visit workshop".

Car re-started, but with dash light still on, so limped home.

The car knocks badly under load, but it sounds more a diesel knock rather than bottom end. The knock is accompanied by clouds of black/grey smoke, and both noise & smoking reduces/stops as the throttle is eased.

Oil level/pressure is OK

Any ideas???

most likely is an injector fault, you really need das (computer) analysis which is usually fairly easy on cdi if symptoms are current.

All,

Just a quick update.

Car is with Jay at Mercland & according to quick look on computer, it may be as simple as fuel pressure sensor not reading correctly.

As soon as I know more I will post outcome (if people are interested ;))

Fish :)

Hi all,

As promised - update

Droped car in to Jay at Mercland. Uspshot was it needed a set of injectors (££ ouch) No.3 injector siezed into head, so was damaged on removal.

Car now back as good as new - hopefully won't have any more problems with it.

Many thanks to Jay & his lads - they did a sterling job.

Have to say though - l do really like the car, but lots of reliability issues (suspension ball joints/shocks/engine sensors/injectors) - most of them fixed under MB warranty, so shouldn't complain really.
