I would like to give my alloy wheels a decent refurb. E 270 Cdi 2004 model.
Due to value of car it's not worth paying for a full professional powder paint job for all 4 wheels so I will use my best D.I.Y. skills to try to make them look reasonable.
Good old YouTube has lots of vids on how to do it.
Does anyone know what paint spec / colour the wheels are.
I would say they are standard Mercedes silver wheel colour for the year but unlike the bodywork (which is Cubanite 723U), I can't see any reference to the silver colour I need to match the wheels.
Doing a Vin decode ... says wheels are 5 Star 672 ..... whatever that means.
Have chatted with a paint supplier and he said the '672' means nothing to him in terms of a colour reference.
Anyone know where I can buy "Mercedes Silver Wheel colour" (for 2004 vintage car) aerosol paint?

I think after trying to DIY this you will look back regretting starting.
Look up City Powder Coat in Brumingham before you dismiss the costs of powder coat.

I am with Martin on that one. I wouldn't attempt it. I think there are folks on here who have and will be able to tell you of the pitfalls. An MB I bought back in 2018 had wheels that needed a refurb. When negotiating the deal I said we would go ahead with it but would they, the dealer, refurbish the wheels. What they actually did was to paint them. Two months later they needed doing again. I had them refurbed at a shop local to us and if I remember they cost something like £250. Whilst in my ownership they didn't need doing again.

My current car is Brilliant Blue, which is a darkish Metallic Blue and the wheels are a sort of Gun Metal colour and do look good. Bright Silver is just a bit too much I think. :)

I did the wheels on my Senator years back. Local places were reluctant to do them because as standard they were 2 tone .... the rims were silver but the X spokes were a grey colour. Any paint job is as good as the prep The result was every bit as good as original.
