E280 CDI remapping

Hi all. I've been toying with the idea of having my E280 CDI Sport Estate remapped. I realise that there are several routes that you can go down but I am unsure as to what to do or if it is wise to do it at all. I was up at my main dealers yesterday for another reason and enquired about the Brabus Power Extra chip. Claims of 52bhp increase etc. However this will cost £1700 which is quite steep. I have also contacted a company near me who offer a remap of the existing chip that is on my car promising very similar performance gains for £280. There is also this ST3 tuning kit I have looked at which allows one to switch between maps at the touch of a button. My main interest is the fuel saving but the extra power is always appealing when you need it. Has anyone got any opinions on this matter as to which way to go or is it best to leave well alone? I'm worried about wear and tear and damage.

One does have to think about the gearbox and the extra torque, 52 BHP is quite a lot,if you check you will find that the 280 uses a different box to the 320

I read on a post somewhere on this forum that someone had kindly published a table showing torque handling capacities of various MB autos.
Does anyone remember where it is at all?
