Malcolm,
Just had a look at my car and it looks nothing like any of the two diags on the link.
From the airbox it goes through the butterfly down into what I presume is the supercharger with no other joins.
There is a second large pipe on the top of the box that goes to the back of the manifold.
On the other side of the engine the throttle body pipe goes down behind the rad with a valve body that has a connector that locks in with a twist lock collar. This valve is connected to an Aluminium pipe with spring clips.
I disconnected this plug and the car wouldn't start.

The man is a genius.
Took off the valve at the air intake behind rad and it is the MAF.
However on inspection Iexpected to see the wire as described in other posts but this one has thin blades only connected on one side.
It looks like there should be 4 and one has snapped off leaving a step where it was or is this normal.
Cleaned it and put back but still poor pickup on revs.
You mentioned the relay in the boot behind battery with a fuse on top. I thought this was the fuel pump relay ?.

You must have 4 wires going to the MAF the 12volt, the ground, the 5volt and the reference 0-5 volt

Bit of a misunderstanding.
I do have the 4 wires from the plug. I was referring to inside the body where I was expecting to find a heating wire but I have thin blades of metal ( approx 10mm long and .25mm thick )sticking up from one side. It looks like there are three with one broken off or is this right.

Malcolm,
Started the car and it ticks over sweet as a nut but slow pickup.
I disconnected the MAF down behind the rad and it makes no difference at all.

I cannot be sure but if it makes no difference at all it could well be at fault,,many electronic parts fail, just like that
