e280 gearbox

hi


i have a 1997 mercedes e280 avantgarde ,
just recent from cold it wont change up gear untill 3500 rpm , its like this until it has some temperature on it then it operates normally , any ideas ?

Last time it had a oil and filter change??????

hi ,
i had the gearbox oil and filter changed two weeks ago when i noticed the problem , and it hasnt made any difference , it is reqular as clockwork , if i were to stay below 3500 rpm it would stay in first until upto normal working temperature . But if i initally go past 3500 rpm it will change up .

well i hope so , it was done by one of the lads in my workshop , i haven't checked the type/grade they used but its not something that they would usually make a mistake with , and as the box had this problem before im taking for granted the oil is correct , i did have this problem once or twice last year but seemed to diaspear until now .

Its just rings alarm bells when something is changed and then faults turn up!

yeah sure i agree , but the problem was there before , i got then to change the oil and filter hopeing it would cure it ,

Need to have any fault codes read, go from there......................

yeah , i have nothing to read the box on a merc of this age , im just down the road from you , would i need to book in or can you do it why i wait ?
