E300 single wiper Blade change

Any one know how to change the front wiper on a 98 E300 TD?....my friend has one and the arm only lifts up an inch before it locks and cant lift it any further or put it back down.....im sure there must be a knack to it....anyone able to let me know?

They do stick, it needs a little lubrication, it will lift up

Mine, lubricated, will raise to about 30 degrees, clicks, then resists. I leave it to the garage to swap blades as the increase in resistance to further raising develops exponentially!
Incidentally, I recall some discussion on lubricating the 'wobble' mechanism which sounded a bit involved, do you have the ref?

You don't need to swing the arm up to remove the blade. Buy the new blade and work out how the catch works. All will become clear...
