A few weeks ago we replaced the little piston-like device at the front of the engine, near the belt, as the bushes had worn away on the original. Its been fine since then, however today the new piston decided to pee its oil out the bottom, resulting in the inside of the car smelling like a sewing machine!
Anyway, before I replace it (since its obviously faulty), would you say its likely to be a manufacturing fault with the new piston (which isn't a MB part btw, I got it from Eurocarparts), or could this be symptomatic of a problem with the metal housing that the lower eye is bolted to? The spring on the other side appears to be fine.
Just wondered, before I go out and replace the faulty piston with a proper MB part.
