Been having a good look around my recently aquired 1997 E300TD, its in first class condition and I still cant believe what the price of a three or for year old Mondeo has bought me!

I do all my own Repairs and maintenence and will be wanting to replace all the brake pipes on the car which are showing some signs of corrosion. The pipes that run over the rear axle look to be a real bitch to get at - do any members have experience of changing these pipes, are there any hints or tips you could give me?

Just reroute them. As long as they are clipped and not rubbing or likely to fowl any thing and to a MOT standard it does not matter were they run.

Thanks for that, maybe I always make things difficult for myself, I would never have thought of anything so obvious! Just shows that sometimes the simplest things are the best!

Yep your right, but they are put in prior to the fuel tank etc goes in, loads of manufactures do it start dropping the tank etc your asking for problems. Believe me as long as common sense prevails and it looks right it will be OK. I do this for a living as well as being a MOT tester, so stick to the guide lines and it will be ok.

This is a similar arrangement to mine. My local garage suggested initially the tank would have to come down, but in fact they managed it without having to do this and without re-routeing.
