Hi,

Looking for some help, I have an E320 CDI auto saloon, the ESP /ABS / BAS, dash lights came on, went for the cheap option of changing out the brake switch, all the lights remained the same. Had a look under the car to find the drivers rear reluctor ring split and free to rotate. Popped in to my local MB agent who put the diagnostic machine on the car to confirm what I thought to be the problem, the MB man promptly told me, it is the reluctor ring, and a new drive shaft is required, costing loads of money.
I replaced the drive shaft, checked and cleaned the ABS sensor, the sensor appears to be ok, plenty of magnetic pull, but with the car running both the ABS / BAS lights still remain lite.

Anyone got any pointers what to do next.

Thanks,
Colin.

If the ring was split and running free on the shaft it may have damaged the sensor, I would have a word with an indie who may be prepared to fit one just to test ur system .. these guys normally have a few good uns about them. Check your wires as well on that side ...

Just thought I would let you know. I noticed the car was a bit sluggish to start, (battery getting low!) so I took the car out for a short drive to have a final check of the ABS system lights, and to recharge the battery. All ABS faults still the same.
Parked the car up, then had to move the car shortly after, battery now fully charged, observed there were no ABS faults, no system malfunctions appeaing on the dash. Took the car out again, all systems good. So the only explination I can think of, for the remaining ABS faults, would be for a low volts/amp's in the battery.

Reading back through some of the other threads related to electrical system malfunctions, the low battery volts/amp's, may well be the cause to retaining my ABS fault, after fitting the drive shaft.

Thanks,
Colin.
