Hi all

New on here, bought a 2003 E class esate yesterday.

Drove it home from the garage (motor trader, not MB), all OK, loved it.

Went to start it today and it turns over but does not fire.

Have now flattened the battery and am waiting for the RAC.

Question:

When I called the bloke who sold it to me, he said maybe the spare key he had given me was not programmed and since that was the one I tried to use today could be the trouble?

Both keys operate the central locking OK, and both turn the engine over fine.

Would they do this and yet prevent the engine from firing if not programmed.

I am scared I have bought a dog.

Would really appreciate some help, and hope to be on here for many years to come, with happier threads.

Help please?

Johnny.

Mate time to recharge that battery for a few hours and bring out the START YA BASTARD. Try squirting the SYB down the Fraulein's throat, Just before you turn the ignition key and she should start singing like a Soprano

2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
Its impossible to be wrong keys,,so forget that.

This could be air in the system or on small thing failed..like the Crank shaft sensor

This does not make it a bad car,,,sometimes sods laws comes into it,,,the dealer must come out and fix it for you

T212 facelift, 2013. A few toys including pan roof, 19" rims, Harmon Kardon, nappa, privacy glass.
There have been lots of threads on this forum re diesel start problems. Majority are due to air leaking in the system via faulty fuel pipe and/or o rings - particularly the fuel filter.

As others have said whizz it back t the dealer - he's problem as it's faulty goods. Do it quick and if yuo get any grief put in writing/email for a paper trail.

Worst case scenario if you are stuck doing it yourself, I'd buy some o rings from MB and change em. For about a fiver you can't really go wrong.

Good luck.
