Hi guys, Seems just when I think I have this car sorted something else crops up! My E320 CDI is experiencing poor starting after a short run. Starts fine from cold but if restarted after, say, 1-2 miles it has to be cranked over for some time to start. Just had 3 injectors replaced at £175 a pop and I still don't think its as good on fuel as it was!!

Have looked over the forum and have discovered a few air bubbles in the clear fuel pipe coming out of the filter after standing. Do I source these from MB? I suppose a filter change can't harm either.... cheers Simon.

Just noticed there is a thread in the DIY section on this so I think my questions are awnsered. Presume I am correct to replace these.... Will report back with my findings.

Thanks Malcolm - are you suggesting it isn't worth changing the clear plastic pipes as detailed in the DIY section by Tim? - mine are a bit brittle and are discoloured but if the problem lies with just o rings then I can save cash....

Then while you are at it change the pipes, they lose their suppleness and are difficult to work with when they have aged,,they are not expensive, and you can then forget faults and enjoy driving again

Will order these up along with a filter and the o rings. I have just been out in the car and am amazed that the car has returned 32mpg after a 4 mile run. Hasn't done that for ages - normally 26 ish on short runs - I did fiddle around with the pipe coming off the filter which must be the main problem seal. Anyone know why this should affect fuel economy so much? Simon.

Well, have changed the fuel filter and the o ring on the clear plastic pipe coming off the filter. Havn't done them all as the pipes are indeed brittle so have ordered new pipes. Car is definately running better:D but if I rev the car hard I can still see bubbles coming from the fuel filter. Is there another filter anywhere - can't see how the air can get in or does the fuel run around the manifold somehow and I have a leak on one the other plastic pipe connections?

Car if full of fuel BTW and have checked all connections.... Sorry for long windedness. Simon

Check the fuel lines underneath.

If you have checked all the fuel pipes under the bonnet then the next think to do would be to check fuel pipe underneath all the way back to the fuel tank.
