E320 stolen from parking garage!

I didnt think this was possible without key fob. Car was in hôtel garage. Wouldnt steering lock? Im confused as to how this was done. BTW ..car was recovered and no evidence of hotwire

Was it your 2004 E320 which wouldn't have keyless go - was it driven do they know or trailered away?

I thought besides AMG's and some of the SUV's and expensive SL/CL's the rest of the Merc range wasnt that desirable for thieves - obviously wrong...

But if it was your 2004 they stole, it's surely a big risk to take for little financial gain, no disrespect but like my E350 of 2012, the value of the cars isn't particularly high?

My 2002 SL has keyless go.... It was available back then.

Hotel staff member eg., cleaner stole key from your room and went for joyride whilst you were dining / sleeping and put key back after abandoning car...

Did you get both keys when you bought the vehicle as you've only just had it?

Yes it was available from release and used the same card system as the SL until 2004 when it went into the key.

Any further information? Presumably it was caught on cctv? What led to the car being recovered?

I too thought that cat thieves only targeted (in the main) AMG type mercs, SL’s et al. but when my E220 (212) was taken during the night back in April this year, I realised I was wrong. I mentioned to the copper that my car wasn’t particularly high performance. He said it doesn’t make any difference; it was an expensive German made car, therefore desirable.

I’ll never forget that. Vanished to never be seen again.

I now have a bulldog clamp, steering lock, tracker, faraday box, driveway alarms, burglar alarms, cctv and another car parked across the driveway. A real pain but needs must.
