Good choice I say!! I bought mine in October following 7 years with an E320CDI Sport and am delighted! I have just had the joy of replacing the 19" rear Contis at a shade over £400 *gulp* but as I only do around 8k a year it's not so bad in the scheme of things.
I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do - the massive torque and that silky 9 speed 'box provide huge grins and overtaking is fantastic!!

I miss the Xenons that I enjoyed on the previous car - the lights on mine are dreadful in comparison. I have got the Pan roof though, which was one of my "must haves" - just need it to stop raining for ten minutes to get it open though!

Lovely looking car with great engine.

Good choice enjoy your purchase

Robin

Thanks, I did try an E220 cabriolet, but after driving the CLK320 Cdi for over five years, I missed the smoothness of the V6

Those 19" wheels do look nice!

The V6 engine is certainly the one to have, effortless overtaking and with the 9g box it just wafts along the motorway with hardly any revs!

What is the rpm showing at 70mph in 9th gear? I've got the 7 speed 350cdi and it's about 1800rpm I think at 70mph.

I did notice this morning that at 80mph (on my private test track) that it was showing 1400rpm. I will try it at 70mph and report back.

Xenon lights? Don't these have matrix LED headlamps as standard? Looks lovely all the same!

Fantastic car looks great, but pardon me if you can afford one why would you question tyre prices ?

Peering into the headlamp......it looks like a normal H7 bulb to me. My brothers C350 has xenons and they are superb.

That is low! I'm surprised it has enough power to sustain 70mph at that rpm, the 350 is gutless below 1500rpm.

Put it in manual mode, floor it(but don't kick down) at 1100rpm, and marvel at how little power a 3.0L engine has before the turbo spools. Try it in 3rd gear, it still doesn't pull. My 1.0L ecoboost developed more power below 1500rpm than this beast.

The 350CDI? Ours spends a lot of it's time below 1500rpm, no lack of torque at all...

I have to agree with other comments that there seems to be endless torque from these engines even not using kickdown.

I mostly have it in sport mode but in Eco it is a calmer car so more push on the pedal is required but that is how they are meant to drive.

In my experience with sport mode Robin, anything more that a slight touch of the throttle and the gearbox will change down to get the revs above 1500rpm. You need to be in manual only to feel what I describe, though I think you have a different variation of the engine, as well as the gearbox, though then again it could just be my car. In my car in manual mode it won't let you change up to 7th until you're at a speed where the revs would be above 1300rpm, so you can only really experience it in 3rd to 6th gears.

In E mine spends a lot of it's time below 1500rpm also, but at a cruise. If i want to increase my speed by more than 1mph/sec it usually changes down.

In manual it feels like an old school petrol turbo car, albeit at a lower rpm.... I.E. foot to the kickdown point at 1100rpm = nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing.....1500rpm and allllllll of the torque. I sometimes wonder whether mine has been re-mapped by a past owner, as it feels like you get full turbo pressure at 1500rpm, when most factory maps in other cars progressively increase boost in the early part of the rev-range(although I only have experience of petrol turbo cars). It's forever having to use the ESP to limit power in the wet when it comes on boost as it's such a big dump of power at once.

Are your cars more linear with the way the power comes on 1000 to 1500? Mines Linear after the initial dump of power.

Don't get me wrong, I love it like it is, it's exciting. I prefer any turbo car to give full-boost from whatever point the engineering allows, rather than a computer feeding it in progressively for a more linear (and boring IMO) powerband.

Enjoy your new toy. :)
Btw I dont think 19” tyres cost any more than 18” ... Eg Goodyear Eagle F1 Assy 3. £160 each

The BIG advantage of 18” imo is they probably handle the dips bumps and holes in our atrocious roads better !

Mine came with 19” so .... they have to stay!
