E350 Timing chain tensioner change

is this a strip out job or can it be wind on (Pulled thru attached to the old chain)
It depends if you have to replace the chain's plastic guides you have to remove the engine from the car if it is just a chain and tensioner replacment you ca do it from the top easy 2 hour job for an engine specialist mechanic

Im not to be honest mate. I changed the oil after a long overdue service and it improved masively. If its just the lifters Im worrying over nothing I suppose.
If it's the lifters that are noisy why would that not be a problem.

I have just read this again. If the hole does not align up, then how does the tensioner get filled up with the oil..?

I mean engine oil filling tube, nothing to do with tensioner itself. Old engines it is located front of the engine where tensioner is visible, newer models it is located more center and thus cannot see chain/tensioner,
